Rewards & Benefits

Watpac offers employees a range of benefits that are designed to be both flexible and rewarding.

Career planning

At Watpac, you have a real opportunity to carve out a meaningful career path and reach your professional goals. Unlike many of our competitors, you won’t get lost in the crowd. We value and nurture talent and every employee has the opportunity to increase their level of skill and responsibility through working with respected and experienced industry leaders, participating in learning and development initiatives, and being a part of some of Australia’s most high-profile projects. As a national company with offices in most Australian states, there may also be opportunities for relocation in order to meet your professional and personal requirements.

Healthy Foundations

As a Watpac employee, you will be able to participate in the company’s health and wellbeing program, Healthy Foundations, which offers employees a range of initiatives to stay fit and healthy. We appreciate that healthy, happy people make great things happen. Some of the activities undertaken by Healthy Foundations may include sponsorship of Watpac sporting teams, discounts for gym and private health cover memberships, and a variety of other activities.

Salary Packaging program

All permanent salaried staff can participate in our Salary Packaging program. Salary packaging can offer significant salary benefits by reducing your taxable income. Our Salary Packaging program provides employees with the option to salary sacrifice a number of different items as part of their total remuneration package including related electronic equipment, professional memberships, superannuation, and novated leases. To ensure you maximise the benefit of salary packaging, we advise all employees to seek financial advice before entering into packaging arrangements.

Social Club

Some Watpac offices operate Social Clubs, where members meet outside of work hours to engage in fun activities while getting to know each other a little better. Social Club events have included family picnics and fun days, after-work drinks, mini golf, barefoot bowls, comedy nights and race days.

Learning & Development

The smarter and more experienced you are, the more successful we will be.

Learning & Development

At Watpac, our success and competitive advantage is based on the specialist skills and broad knowledge of our people. That is why we support continuous learning and offer a diverse range of learning and development programs that cater for all employees, regardless of where they are in their career.

Our programs are integral to building long-term, dynamic career paths for our employees and are tailored to meet the requirements of the industries in which we operate.

We partner with a range of specialist training organisations to develop courses that are relevant, practical and innovative.  We employ a range of delivery techniques including on-the-job instruction from our in-house professional instructors, to simulation and online learning.  We also value what other industries are doing and we have partnered with many of Australia’s leading academic institutions to challenge traditional thinking methodologies and develop our middle and senior management teams.

Apprenticeships, Traineeships, Cadetships and Graduates

At Watpac, every employee plays a crucial role within our business.

Our success relies on the experience and skills of our people at every level of the organisation. That is why it is important to provide opportunities to employees who provide the foundation for us to grow our operations and our next generation of leaders – our trainees, apprentices, cadets and graduates.

Through a range of structured programs, these employees are able to fully participate in a range of projects across the country, and learn invaluable on-the-job skills, while still engaging in study.

Young Professionals Program

Watpac’s Young Professionals Program (YPP) provides a solid foundation for cadets and graduates to learn about themselves, their team and our organisation.

The program is delivered nationally and brings together graduates from across Australia who can benefit from networking with each other and our senior management team. YPP offers on-going training, support and a wide range of development opportunities incorporating technical, professional and personal competencies. Support and coaching is also provided in the form of a supervisor and an appointed mentor, facilitated by a senior manager in the organisation.

Working in Australia

At Watpac, you’ll find a company that takes pride in the quality of our work, and focuses on developing a talented team to take on a diverse range of projects for a varied clientele. As part of our commitment to engaging a diverse, talented workforce, we are looking for people with the right skills and experience from within Australia and abroad, who would flourish in Watpac’s cultural environment.

Working in Australia has many benefits—an opportunity to gain incredible skills and experience, a fun relaxed lifestyle, great weather, and access to some of the most amazing natural wonders in the world. From the underwater marvels of the Great Barrier Reef in the far north of the country, to the snowfields of the southern states, through to the wine regions of Western and South Australia, there is a lot to explore in this vast country.

Watpac undertakes an incredibly diverse portfolio of work Australia-wide, with offices in Brisbane, Townsville, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. If you are not a resident or citizen of Australia, and you would like to work for Watpac in Australia, there are criteria you must meet within specific immigration categories.

Skilled Migration Program

Entering Australia under the Skilled Migration Program allows you to explore a range of visa options. The program is open to a person who is not sponsored by an employer, but who has skills in particular occupations required in Australia. Applicants must be over 18 and under 45 years of age, with good English language skills, and recent skilled work experience or a recently completed eligible Australian qualification.

Some of Watpac’s core operational roles are recognised by the Australian Government’s Skilled Occupation List include Construction Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Mining Production Managers, Project Builder, and Engineers (including Mining, Mechanical, Civil, and Building). Please note this list does change regularly.

For more information, visit the Australian Government’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection website.

Employer sponsored workers

Watpac may choose to sponsor your stay in Australia if you have the right qualifications, skills and/or experience, and if you are the right ‘fit’ for our company culture. You may be offered temporary or permanent visas, depending on your particular occupation and your background. A temporary visa allows you to work in Australia for up to four years, and you can bring any eligible secondary applicants with you to Australia to work or study. If you are granted a temporary visa, this may create a pathway to a permanent visa in the future.

Permanent visas allow applicants and their dependent family members to live as permanent residents in Australia. You may then also be eligible for Australian citizenship.

As with the Skilled Migration Program, your occupation must be recognised by the Australian Government’s Skilled Occupation List.

Please note the criteria for Australian visas changes regularly. For up-to-date information, visit the Australian Government’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection  website.
